Bueche!

the best things ard now... ancients could self-teach Latin, Spanish, Greek, astronomy, math, and i'm gg to teach myself malay. not gg to be tough, since many grounds of application are available.

linguistics seems to be quite an inefficient and poor use of time and brains- the search to meanings of words, alternative or multiple usage of words, sounds and relationships of words, evolution of language-and this is an insult to the millenia-old philosophy. Altho it all looks very much useless and irrelevant today, the thought did occur when i was in jc, doing this gp topic bout philosophers. came across the more colorful and well-known personalities like freud, and oso something bout language. why can a table mean a table, and not a chair or butterfly? connotations denotations existence blah, got my head so swollen.

now back to it, and time seems to have processed and mellowed the shock to sthg tt's been digested. the material tt i read now is no longer new and awesome. but the effort and clarity of mind and eloquence needed to bring across concepts of language using language is quite formiddable. feels like trying to swim in a gel.
