out everyday for 2 weeks, the second week at work in cfa.
got to interact deeply with the chinese examiners-wonderful lot they were, not to mention the cute junior with whom i worked with.
work consisted of registering candidates for their music exam and ushering them to their respective rooms. that was awfully boring, after the first 5hours. but listening to the teachers from beijing making small talk during teatime was especially entertaining-they were witty and spontaneous. aside from this small pleasure, rj and i managed to make the days bearable by sneaking in turns into the room disignated for aural exam-there's a beautiful piano, and through it, i believe we have fostered a strong friendship. And i learnt a new song! ok, jus the chorus, but well... it was really fun.
the other heart-warming thing is that we built a great rapport with one of the teacher-an old man, very fit still, and extremely modest. He was left alone here while his comrades returned with relish home, owing to the grest popularity of the erhu. for 2and a half miserable days there was no more tickling conversations, but i'm glad we were able to make a difference, albeit a tiny one. we had ventured to escort him for a short shopping trip-he had wished so much to buy some souvenirs for his young students, but had been refused, owing to some miscommunication. and that pleased him extremely. how he smiles-the already tiny eyes narrowing even further, and the top row of teeth all showing, haha... reminds me of grandpa...
